Bengal, UK to set up EV skills center in Kolkata

The Government of Bengal and the Government of the United Kingdom are setting up a center of excellence in Kolkata for the development of electric vehicle skills. The UK government chose Bengal for its pioneering role in the introduction of electric cars in public transport. Apart from playing the knowledge partner, the Center is expected to standardize the EV ecosystem in the state.

Minister of State for Power S Suresh Kumar inaugurated the first ever workshop on 'Building Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Bengal' organized by the British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata and State Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development in West Bengal on Tuesday. partnership with NPTC Group of Colleges Wales, UK.

S Suresh Kumar said, "It is essential that technical support is available for EV charging infrastructure. Skill development is essential for the production and maintenance of electric vehicles. The Center of Excellence will introduce innovations that will help the dynamic development of the infrastructure and the Department of Technical Education and Skill Development is the the right place for the center.”
